Programmes
Our programmes work with local peoples on capacity building, advocacy, education and poverty reduction processes. They are aimed at empowerment for minorities, who often lack access to political participation and decision-making processes and frequently have damaging development policies imposed upon them. These minorities may also be discriminated against in education, employment, health care, housing and land rights.
'The capacity of the minority and indigenous groups in Rivers, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom States have been improved given the advocacy training and sensitization workshops held with them on the issues of minority and indigenous peoples rights.' MOSOP, Nigeria
Our programmes focus on building understanding and action around international legal standards, as well as helping communities advocate for their own rights at a national, regional and international level.
In the past few years we have run programmes to support minorities in countries as diverse as the Philippines, Ethiopia and Bulgaria, to name but a few.
